Arena Stage of DC commissioned an animation for their play, Cambodian Rock Band. We worked with Elyse Kelly and writer Philippa Hughes to create a sequence as part of a collaborative greater story reflecting on the multitude of experiences of growing up Asian in the U.S.
Painting a thick tapestry using water to reflect experienced and inherited memory and identity.
As part of an animated anthology, we wanted our sequence to reflect a myriad of unique Asian American experiences while not departing too far from the author’s own personal story.
